ABOUT OUR SCHOOL
The Cedar Lane Early Childhood Center is dedicated to the special needs of young children. We serve a diverse and lively population of 5-year olds who enjoy a common kindergarten experience at our Center before entering an elementary "feeder school" upon graduation.*
Instruction at the ECC centers upon the whole child - with experiences designed to expand mental, physical, emotional and social development. Our curriculum includes: language and literacy, mathematics, scientific exploration, creative expression, and physical education activities which reflect our commitment to an anti-bias, multicultural environment.
Though schedules may vary from class to class, each day includes periods of time that are basic: a time for sharing, clarifying and evaluating; large blocks of time when each child can choose his or her own activities from a variety of learning areas; and time for a balance of quiet and active experiences.
Note: Kindergarten is a free, full-day program. Research is clear that full-day programs have lasting, long-range benefits for all students, especially those who may be starting their school careers academically behind their peers.
Parents are welcome visitors in our school. Many opportunities exist to help in the classroom, library, office, or on field trips. We encourage all our families become active in the PTA - who are engaged in the important task of developing a playground for our new school.
*A preschool enrichment program is also available for children identified with developmental needs.

KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION Children who will be five years of age by August 31, must register to enter kindergarten in September. It is important that families new to the district or with children entering school for the first time register as early as possible - in order to allow time to adequately schedule classroom assignments and bus routes. Pre-registration is an option if you will be entering the district during the school year.
To register, you will need your child's:
Birth certificate
Verifiable immunization record
Proof of residence (Real estate agreements are accepted)
Last Report Card, Custody Papers, Special Education Information (if applicable)
Please bring this information to the school your student will be attending. Be sure to call the school in advance to schedule an appointment. To save time, you may wish to begin the pre-registration process using the forms found in the Registration Section of our website. Note: Children entering Kindergarten will be tested.
