Parents Academy: Upcoming Workshops

Parents Academy Programs for 2008-2009
The Appoquinimink Parents Academy offers timely information, supportive ideas, and expert presenters. Programs are free to parents and caregivers. Childcare is available. Registration is not required.

Classes meet at the Appoquinimink Training Center, 118 South Sixth Street, Odessa, DE 19730 unless otherwise noted.

Student Accountability

6:30-7:30 p.m.
Learn about the Delaware Student Testing Program. As we review the testing process, you'll gain a better understanding about student accountability, summer school opportunities and state & district requirements.

Behavior Support for Students
January 26, 2009
6:30-7:30 p.m.
We'll offer twenty tips that will minimize or greatly reduce behavior problems and increase positive social interactions for your child. Our session will provide the principles of preventing inappropriate behaviors and offer more appropriate replacement behaviors.

Internet Safety Education
March 23, 2009

Learn how to keep your child safe online. We'll provide you with information about the dangers that exist on the Internet, policies parents can put in place, and access to free software that will help you monitor your home computer.

Basic Nutrition for Active Families

Join us for a discussion about the latest recommendations for children's nutrition, tips for surrounding your family with healthy options, and tools for creating a positive relationship with food and exercise. Our presenter is Nutrition Services Supervisor Janice VanderDecker.
