Bunker Hill ELEMENTARY ABOUT OUR SCHOOL
Bunker Hill Elementary offers an exciting learning environment for students in grades 1-5.

At Bunker Hill, we are committed to delivering developmentally appropriate curriculum, globally-focused content (including world languages French, Spanish, Chinese & Japanese), and differentiated instruction that meets the needs of all students. We emphasize positive behavior support (PBS) and maintain a climate where students and staff feel safe, welcome, and valued.

Technology is an important part of all that we do. Each classroom is equipped with the latest technology, including SMART Boards, LCD projectors, internet-wired computers, and audio enhancement. Television monitors in each room are used to present the morning news announcements and positive messages to students. Each grade level is also provided with a class-sized bank of computers for additional learning opportunities, research, and testing.

Parents, guardians and caregivers are all important partners in the learning process at Bunker Hill. We have a school website (updated weekly), a monthly newsletter, an automated calling system, and provide our students with daily planners to ensure constant communication to and from the school. We have an active PTO that provides our students and staff with a tremendous amount of support. Our growing mentoring program (including students from nearby Appoquinimink High School) is available for at-risk students. We encourage volunteer involvement at all levels in our school, all year long.

In addition to our classroom teachers, Bunker Hill has a principal and assistant principal; office staff; art, music, technology, world languages, and physical education teachers; a library/media specialist; reading specialist; school counselor; interventionist; speech and language teacher; nurse and psychologist. Our cafeteria, custodial, and transportation staff are also part of the team at Bunker Hill and support our students' learning in valuable ways.

We invite you to learn more about our school by exploring this site. Whether you are a current member of the Bunker Hill "family," a prospective homeowner, or an alumni returning for a cyberspace homecoming, Bunker Hill Elementary welcomes you!
